Costume Jewelry

Costume jewelry is made from less costly materials such as metals with gold and silver coatings, wood, plastic, glass, and beads. Because it is made from lower priced materials, it is much cheaper to buy making it much more popular than fine jewelry in the overall population. It is also designed to match the current trends and classic styles.  

The different variations of costume jewelry are virtually endless. Some are bold, big beaded bright colored necklaces that cater to those that like to keep up with the current trends. Other types can be imitations of the more classical fine jewelry, such as plated gold, cubic zirconium and fake pearls.  Either way, this type of jewelry can be bold, beautiful, and stunning, without breaking the bank. 

With technologies for making these imitation precious stones and metals improving, it is becoming more and more difficult to discern the real from the fake. The only downside is they won’t last as long and may cause skin discoloration and allergies. However, for casual use, the value of costume jewelry cannot be beat.
